Tsunami Hazard Assessment in Istanbul Using by High Resolution Satellite Data (ikonos) and Dtm

چکیده
Historical tsunami events have impacted the Istanbul coasts along the Sea of Marmara. Offshore seismic sources may trigger these tsunamis directly or through coseismic underwater failure. The 1999 zmit Bay tsunami led to more comprehensive analyses of these events which are generally caused by underwater failures close to the target coastline. Waves so generated can arrive at nearby coastlines in minutes, causing extensive damage and loss of life. Here this paper propose, on the basis of tsunami models in the Sea of Marmara and methodology used internationally, first generation tsunami inundation maps for the areas along the southern coast of Istanbul using by High Resolution Satellite Data (IKONOS) and Digital Terrain Data (DTM). Such maps and images for selected areas help to understand the possible effects on those regions and should only be used for evacuation planning and reducing possible hazard. * Corresponding author.

Vulnerability assessment towards tsunami threats using multisensoral remote sensing data [7478-54]
The occurrence of a tsunami, a set of oceans waves caused by any large, abrupt disturbance of the sea surface, hitting a vulnerable system on land can cause massive loss of life, destruction of coastal infrastructure and disruption of economic activity. Vulnerability assessment and risk modelling are important components for an effective end-to-end hazard early warning system and therefore cont...
متن کاملApplication of high-resolution stereo satellite images to detailed landslide hazard assessment
This study investigates and demonstrates the state of the art in remote sensing techniques for detailed landslide hazard assessment applicable to large areas. Since the most common methods of landslide hazard assessment using simple inventories and weighted overlays are heavily dependent on three-dimensional terrain visualization and analysis, stereo satellite images from the IKONOS Very High R...

A moment-magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck the area off the western coast of northern Sumatra on 26 December 2004, which triggered massive tsunamis inundating the coastal areas in the countries along the Indian Ocean Rim. Various moderateto high-resolution satellite images were obtained before and after the tsunami attack and used for emergency management. High-resolution satellite (e.g. IKONOS) ...
متن کاملQUALITY ASSESSMENT OF HIGH RESOLUTION RADAR DSMs
Radar remote sensing has a significant role in remote sensing technologies and develops rapidly. A series of new synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites has been launched to space having various operation modes which offer different resolutions and advantages. A very actual SAR satellite is German TerraSAR-X (TSX), launched on 15 June 2007. This satellite is a revolution for the SAR technolog...
متن کامل3d Reconstruction from Very High Resolution Satellite Stereo and Its Application to Object Identification
New high-resolution satellite images such as those from IKONOS provide potentially useful information for the identification of individual surface objects such as trees and buildings compared with previous satellite image sources (e.g. SPOT, Landsat). However, the detailed structure of buildings and trees is still ambiguous for the application of existing machine vision algorithms, mainly due t...
